Keynote Session: Focusing on Non- traditional Careers- How can we inspire students to get involved?
June 11, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pmFree
Representation of women in STEM varies by field, but overall, women and certain ethnic groups remain underrepresented in STEM careers. Atlanta native and MIT engineer Stephanie Espy is one of the 3 percent of women of color who have earned degrees in engineering. To help close the gaps in STEM, Stephanie founded academic coaching company MathSP and girls in STEM enrichment company STEM Gems to help middle and high school students become more STEM fluent and to increase the diversity of students pursuing STEM careers. She is also the author of STEM Gems: How 44 Women Shine in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, And How You Can Too! Attendees will learn more about Stephanie’s work and how you can get involved to inspire your students to pursue careers in STEM.
