STEAM: Myths & Mechatronics

October 17, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

In ancient stories and art, people imagined automated “metal men” and “flying chariots” that could perform impossible feats. The great Hindu epic, the Ramayana, features Pushpak, a vimana, or self-propelled vehicle, that was stolen by Ravana, the 10-headed king of Lanka. Through Zoom sessions and tutorial videos with teaching artist Lakeem Winborne, teachers will get hands-on experience in creating a story board, learning to code as form of storytelling, building a robot, and writing code to make their robot vimana “enact” their story.

Materials packages including art supplies and an mBot robotics kit from Makeblock are included in the cost of the workshop.

Fee: $105 for members; $135 for nonmembers. Space is very limited and advanced registration is required.
Registration Deadline: October 3, 2020
