STEM in the City Exploring Earth Science Through Virtual Fieldwork Experiences youth and families will learn about geology and fossils

About this Event

SEM Link’s Math and Science Career Academy hosts its STEM in the City Workshop Series to expose youth to STEM Research conducted in the field. Our Saturday, August 8th workshop will be a virtual session lead by paleontologist Dr. Lisa D. White. Dr. White is Director of Education and Outreach at the Museum of Paleontology at the University of California, Berkeley.

Virtual field experiences provide novel ways to engage audiences in the physical features of an area through the eyes of an Earth scientist. Virtual experiences developed by Dr. Lisa White and her colleagues highlight the value of fossil collections and the unique environmental areas in California where they do paleontological and geological research.

Youth will learn a basic introduction to geology and fossils, and how to answer questions about what geoscientists do with information about fossils.

This session will be held over Google Meet. Access to the link will only be given by registering for this workshop on Eventbrite.
