The Ultimate STEM Essentials Teacher Workshop

Part I

This full-day professional learning workshop is the first of a two-part series that focuses on integrating STEM Challenges and utilizing various STEM Resources for teachers to transform their teaching. This teacher-friendly workshop provides a practical and hands-on approach for encouraging teachers to incorporate tried and proven teaching methods of the Five E Lesson, Three-Dimensional Learning and the Engineering Design Process to create fun and exciting student-centered lessons for their students. Teachers will participate in multiple STEM challenges that are specific to their grade level and standards before creating their own challenges as a culminating activity. Participating teachers are invited to share and present their best ideas and lessons during the follow-up session during the second semester for a chance to win a $500 mini-grant for their classroom.

Part II

Using Coding and Robotics in the Classroom: As new technologies emerge, knowing some coding will make all of us better equipped to interact with the technology and use it to its full potential. This workshop introduces binary code, coding languages, and a plethora of coding and robotics activities that are fun and easy to do with kids. We will focus on the beauty of drag and drop programming since it is something that everyone can use without being distracted by the grammatical complexities that characterize specific languages.
