STEM/ STEAM Micro-tours
The Georgia Department of Education STEM/ STEAM Team’s Micro Tour professional learning series provides educators and leaders with an overview of STEM/ STEAM practices, practices for implementation, and actionable steps to start your STEM/STEAM journey. These professional learning resources were curated specifically for rural schools and districts but are applicable to a state-wide audience.
These virtual exhibits will support leaders and teachers interested in implementing a shift to interdisciplinary, inquiry-based, and project-based instruction
Martinez Elementary School is a part of the Columbia County School System located in Martinez, Georgia. The tour will focus on elementary STEM/STEAM collaborative planning, using data to drive instruction, and community partnerships.
New Mountain Hill Elementary is a part of the Harris County School District located in Fortson, Georgia. The tour will focus on arts integration in an elementary school setting, collaboration with the Farm Bureau and Career Technical Student Organizations, as well as how their rural location and agriculture focused community drive STEAM education.
West Fannin Elementary School is a part of the Fannin County School District located in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The tour will focus on community partnerships driving project-based learning planning and highlighting their unique partnerships with Adopt-A-Stream and the Mercier Apple Orchard.
The STEM Academy at Bartlett is a part of the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools located in Savannah, Georgia. The tour will focus on creating a student-centered approach to teaching and learning.
Thomson Middle School is a part of Houston County Schools located in Centerville, Georgia. The tour will focus on utilizing community partnerships to drive project-based learning planning and implementation.
The Drew Charter School Junior/Senior Academy is a part of the Atlanta Public Schools located in Atlanta, Georgia. The tour will focus on arts integration in a middle and high school setting, strategies for STEAM implementation, and collaborative planning.
Lanier High School is a part of the Gwinnett County Public Schools located in Buford, Georgia. The tour will focus on project-based learning integration and the key role of Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education professionals in a high school setting.
